WIIKEND VIBES WITH ANNETTE

I hope you are having a nice weekend and that you are feeling well. I thought I’d share with you what my newsletter “Wiikend Vibes with Annette” looks like – below is this week’s version! The Wiikend Vibes newsletter comes out once a week and represents my way of sharing what I learn and know about yoga and mindfulness meditation. Look out for my offer regarding the 30-minute mindfulness sessions three times a week mentioned further down in the text.

A couple of this week’s classes have had focus on moving with the breathing. I know, that’s what we do in yoga! We are physically apart during our practice via zoom and some of you are joining in from other countries such as Norway and Sweden, even Australia this week. As I was watching you practise, it (finally) dawned on me that not only are we moving together, we are breathing together too. I find this incredible! No matter the time difference, we are in one time together with our movement, concentration and breathing. No matter the external separateness there is oneness. Thank you so much for your presence 🙏

MINDFULNESS SESSIONS FREE OF CHARGE THIS FEBRUARY

My reason for teaching yoga and mindfulness meditation is to bring joy and a feeling of freedom to people and help them feel alive. I believe that training the mind is as important as training the physical body. I also believe it is vital to have a way of feeling well no matter what our external circumstances are.

Yoga and mindfulness meditation practice saved me at a very difficult time in my life (by the way I like to think of yoga as movement meditation!). And so, the other day, with all the turbulence and uncertainty around us due to COVID, I got inspired to do more for our community.

I currently offer 30-MINUTE MINDFULNESS MEDITATION three times a week. Time is Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 5pm-5.30pm. These are sessions designed to help create a space to Pause and Breathe. The practice helps reset the nervous system and brings more clarity to mind. For the month of February 2021 I am offering these sessions free of charge to anyone in our community who would like to join. First session is on Monday 1st February at 5pm. If you know anyone who could benefit from this offer thank you for letting them know.

My interest for meditation started as I came across an article about mindfulness with a picture of an iceberg next to it. About two thirds of an iceberg is below water… There is parallel here to how much we use of our mind capacity! Here is a blogpost called Tip of the Iceberg I wrote some time ago that I am finding relevant again today.

FILM OF THE WEEK

Anyone seen the new documentary out now on Prime called “Upper Story”? It is about well-being and mind training and features the Dalai Lama and top modern scientists. The documentary shows how dialogues between the Dalai Lama and the scientists, as well as brains scans on Tibetan monks over the past 30 years, have lead to the discovery that well-being is a skill. This is incredible as it means you can practise well-being and get better at it! It is the same as playing sports or a music instrument and getting better. Here is the link to the Upper Story trailer.

I look forward to seeing you for new classes next week. Wishing you well,
