MY WORD FOR 2024

Have you ever decided on a word for the New Year? I have, and this year my word is DEPTH! Previously I have had ALIGN, TRUST and other words I can’t remember… However, ALIGN helped me remind myself to come more often into the present moment, and TRUST helped me trust life and my instincts in a far greater way. Now I am super excited about DEPTH.

Depth represents being vulnerable and authentic. It symbolises the way I want to be and act in life forever. Choosing this word I can already feel it will be a year that will ask me to be more brave. Fingers crossed it will go well! I will have to and I want to consciously embrace discomfort. In my mind, going for Depth means daring to speak out and speak up in a new way that will definitely challenge me.

You may ask how to decide on a word for the year? Previous years as a new year was approaching I started looking for a word. It could take no time, a day or a few weeks for the word to appear. Once a word sort of “tasted good” and felt meaningful – can’t describe it otherwise – that became the word. It doesn’t need to be something fancy or exceptional, the main thing is that it feels truthful to where you are in life. The word is here to guide you and support you. It is also here to help you expand! Once you have it you will know. My 2024 word came to me just like that at the start of December. Once I heard it inside of me I immediately knew it was the one.

How long does the word stay present in your mind to guide you through the year? It will depend on how determined you are to allow it to guide you. There are words I have chosen that went away as quickly as they came, although they felt like the real deal at the start of January. I know this only has to do with me not being as intentional as I would have liked to be.

Choosing a word is both fun and serious. Did I loose trust in life after my year with Trust? No, trust in life is anchored in me and here to stay. I now have trust in life no matter what. It was the same with Align, the first word of the year I had ever chosen. Aligning with this moment, that is being present, is coming up many, many times daily. Now time for a new year and a new word! I am determined to keep Depth present and alive all through 2024 and many years to come.

I wish you an amazing new year. Have fun with your word of the year if you decide to choose one!
